Investment Competition - Venturefest Yorkshire 2008

Continuing its aim of recognising and rewarding the best of Yorkshire's new talent in the Knowledge, Technology and Innovation based sectors, Connect Yorkshire are again organising the Investment Competition at Venturefest Yorkshire 2008, in association with Yorkshire Association of Business Angels
With a cash and business support prize for the winner of the competition, plus members of YABA in the audience, if you’re looking for finance to grow your business then look no further!
The selected finalists will have:

A chance to win the competition prize of £5,000 cash and a minimum of £20,000 in support services, such as office premises and advice from professionals.

The opportunity to present your 10 minute investment pitch to YABA investors

Free intensive one to one mentoring and advice from some of the region’s top professional service providers, to help hone your investment proposition and business plan

The profile of your business raised in the Venturefest Yorkshire event guide, seen by over 2000 delegates

Free exhibition space within Innovation Central, alongside other technology and knowledge-based entrepreneurs

An invitation to attend the Awards Dinner in the evening, where the Investment competition winner is announced!

Kirkstall Ltd, who have developed an application to reduce the requirement for animal testing in laboratories, were winners of the 2007 Investment Competition.
Managing Director Dr Malcolm Wilkinson (pictured) said, “Winning has really triggered an acceleration in this business. Not only will the cash and services prove very useful but also the exposure and contacts that have come as a result will be invaluable”.

Since pitching at the Competition, other presenters were also approached by investors, with Lattice Voice Technologies of York raising £150K from the Yorkshire and Humber Equity Fund, part of the YFM Group, allowing them to complete product development and fund initial sales roll-out of their language tools technology.
